There are so many things to see and do at Catalina Island for everyone. But a trip to Catalina Island will not be complete without a visit to some of its most fabulous highlights:
The Inn on Mount Ada:
Used to be a mansion that overlooks all of Avalon from high above in a hill. It was once the private home of William Wrigley Jr., the magnate who developed most of the city. Today the mansion operates as The Inn on Mount Ada. The best way to experience the beauty of this mansion is to book one of the four-star hotel six guest rooms where overnight guests are treated to beautiful views of Avalon Bay and the Pacific Ocean, a complimentary golf cart to use during their stay; a full breakfast and lunch each and most importantly the opportunity to learn more about the Wrigley family through firsthand stories that the innkeepers gladly share with visitors. If the hotel happens to be completely booked, outside guests can make a breakfast reservation and have breakfast at the mansion to also get the chance to experience the beauty of the mansion and its surrounding scenery.
Descanso Beach Club:
This private club sits on a secluded cove where there are three luxury cabanas for guests who want to enjoy and relax out in the beach. Each cabana comes with amenities such as a flat-screen television, Wi-Fi, chaise lounges and bottled water. As well as personal concierge who delivers fresh fruit and smoothies throughout the day. Guests can also order from the club’s restaurant menu.
Catalina Casino and Avalon Theatre:
The Catalina Casino is not a gambling hall at all and yes guests might be confused about it. But the Catalina Casino is far from being a casino even residents of the island insist that it never will be. Instead the casino is a house of entertainment and gathering. The massive building is home to the Casino Ballroom, Avalon Theatre, Catalina Island Museum and Catalina Island Art Association Art Gallery. Guest can take a tour and go behind-the-scenes to learn all about the ballroom and the theater’s glamorous past. The tour includes stops inside the theater’s green rooms, dressing rooms, plus a walk through the backstage area and an informative description of the theater and ballroom. Guests can also stop by the Catalina Island Museum to learn more about the island’s history,
Everywhere you go on Catalina Island is a sight to see. Strolling down Crescent Avenue is a must where guests can purchase treats along the street such as in Lloyd’s of Avalon a candy shop who has been serving taffy since 1934. If guests are into jewelry than Two’s Company of Avalon is the place to go also located on Crescent Ave. There are just too many great places to visit down Crescent Ave that visitors need to go see themselves.
Catalina Zip Line Eco Tour:
Are you looking for thrills and adrenline then the Catalina Zip Line Eco Tour is just for you. Plus having an adrenline rush you'll get to see the beauty of Catalina Island from 500 feet above sea leverl. The Catalina Island Eco Tour is one of the island’s newest attractions having its first tour in 2010. This is a two-hour must-do activity/adventure for Avalon visitors. Two experienced guides accompany each group of thrill seekers through five separate zip lines where participants can sail/zip down reaching speeds up to 45 miles per hour.
