Alcatraz Island Tour
Departure Times: Varies
Cruise on San Francisco Bay to Alcatraz Island and the infamous and notorious former federal prison. This former federal prison housed some of America’s most difficult and dangerous felons during its years of operation from 1934 to 1963. Among those who served time at the maximum-security facility were notorious gangster Al “Scarface” Capone (1899-1947), George “Machine Gun” Kelley (1895-1954), and Robert “The Birdman” Stroud (1890-1963). The prison was shut down due to high operating costs in 1963. Today, historic Alcatraz Island is a popular tourist attraction and destination that visitors from around the world come and visit. The tour includes round trip ferry transfers from Pier 33 to Alcatraz Island, a brief welcome and orientation from a National Park Ranger and an audio Cell Block Tour. The tour is available in 6 languages English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. A visit to San Francisco will not be complete without a visit to Alcatraz Island.
No minors under the age of 18 are allowed to tour Alcatraz Island without the accompaniment of an adult. An adult must be present with a minor at all times while on Alcatraz.
